Tonight I have my favorite, my absolute FAVORITE from the Sephora + Pantone Universe nail set. Matte isn't a new thing in the world of polish, but of it's a texture that I love and still has novelty value to me. I don't own very many matte polishes (five as of right now) so every one I get is new and fun to me. I'm not tired of them! Plus I don't know of many orange mattes (ManGlaze has a super bright orange one) so that makes this pretty cool.
Like the other polishes in this collection, I found Tangerine Tango Matte to be a little sheer, but otherwise the formula was excellent. Mattes dry quickly and can have thick formulas, but everything about this was perfect. The formula wasn't too thick so it didn't get gooey on the nail and didn't dry so fast that it caused problems. So, excellent! But I did have to use three coats to achieve the look below. However, I think it was totally worth it.
A lot of pictures because I love the way this looks. Unfortunately, I also lost my sun while I was swatching this polish so I don't have any sun pictures. Can't win 'em all! Again, this seems to photographed more red-orange than orange, but trust me, it's definitely orange.

Isn't this just amazing?! I love it so much. I love how soft and velvety it looks. Not that I'm dying to wrap myself up in orange velvet, but... I couldn't stop staring at my nails. The only thing I didn't do was put top coat on this, so I'm not sure how it looks when it's shiny.

Sephora + Pantone Universe Tangerine Tango Creme
The next polish I have for you is Tangerine Tango Creme from the Sephora + Pantone Universe set. Again, because this polish is the color of the year, it is a bright orange polish that has strong red tones. Similarly to the shimmer polish, the formula was nicely pigmented and was really easy to work with, but unfortunately more on the sheer side. But I feel like Tangerine Tango Creme has a more jelly-like consistency anyway, instead of being a true creme.
I used three coats of Tangerine Tango Creme in my pictures below. I'm not wearing top coat in any of the pictures and you can see how amazingly shiny this polish dries! I had a hard time capturing this shade with my camera-- Tangerine Tango Creme is definitely orange. There are red tones, but in person this polish is definitely orange.

I love how juicy this looks. An excellent bright orange jelly/creme hybrid (I can't call it a straight creme). Perfect for summer!

Sephora + Pantone Universe Tangerine Tango Shimmer
Tonight I have the first of a pretty cool set of polishes to show you! Sephora teamed up with Pantone to create a line of beauty products that are all the Color of the Year: Tangerine Tango. Of course, of all the products, I was most interested in the nail polish set! So as soon as it was on sale, I snatched it up and finally swatched it a couple of weeks ago.
The Sephora website describes the set like this: "A playful collection of four nail lacquers in tangerine-inspired shades. Flaunt a variety of gorgeous nail looks in the 2012 Color of the Year, Tangerine Tango, with this set of bold polishes. Adorn your fingers and toes with the vivacious reddish-orange in four different finishes, from creamy and matte, to glitter and shimmer. The rich color provides beautiful payoff with just one coat and the formula is formaldehyde-free. Combine polishes to create your own unique design and dance your way into the New Year with this spirited shade."
Plus, it comes in a very cool box!
The first shade I have for you tonight is Tangerine Tango Shimmer. Like the name says, it's a shimmer polish and is a ton of orange glass flecks packed in a red-orange tangerine base. I have to say, I was really apprehensive about how the formula would be and had no idea what to expect. Luckily, the formula was excellent and this went on really easily. It was maybe a little on the thick side, but was super easy to use. My biggest complaint? How sheer it is! In the pictures below I have used four coats of the polish, and there's still visible nail line. Thicker coats definitely help, but don't eliminate it entirely. In real life it's not quite as bad as the pictures show, but there is definitely still VNL. I think this would have been better used as a top coat over an orange polish. I didn't use a top coat in the pictures below.
