Misa Double Dutch

Most of the time I would say last but not least, but... I can't really do that with this polish.  Misa Double Dutch is my least favorite polish from the Hot Summer Collection.Double Dutch is a lilac purple-pink and while it's a perfectly fine color, even pretty, I think I have decided that this is probably one of my least favorite colors out there. I just find that it doesn't excite me very much! It's a very soft and diminutive color, especially compared to the other bright colors in this collection. Also... I can't for the life of me figure out why this is named after jump-roping.

Double Dutch is  just like the other Misa polishes-- has a great formula. It was a little on the sheer side in the first coat, but I think that you could get away with two coats if you applied it carefully. I used three coats in my pictures and no top coat. I think this photographed slightly lighter than it appears in real life, but it's pretty close. You can even see how it can change between purple and pink in my photos.

See, it's very pretty! And yet... just kind of boring. I'm not inspired or thrilled by this. I wish it would be more purple or more pink-- not both! However, if this is the kind of color you love this has a great formula and it is super pretty.

Misa Skinny Dipping

My family emergency has been down-graded from critical and so I can do some blogging! I really appreciate all the prayers-- things aren't over yet but the future is looking bright.

I have Misa Skinny Dipping to share with you tonight. This is a really gorgeous pool blue with blue shimmer. Perfect color for summer-- I seriously think of a swimming when I see this polish. Skinny Dipping goes on pretty sheer and I needed three coats to make it opaque-- you might see some visible nail line in my photos but it's much less apparent in real life. It dries to a semi-matte or satin finish and the shimmer is just incredible. I get the feeling this could stain your nails, so I would definitely wear a base coat (possibly even two coats) to try and prevent that.

My photos got kind of washed out and makes Skinny Dipping look much lighter than it actual is. The flash pictures probably have the most accurate color. But regardless of that, this is seriously gorgeous color and I love it.

Misa So HOT in Sunglasses

Hope everyone is finishing up a nice weekend-- I'm not ready to head back to work tomorrow! My weekend started out well but got a little crazy by the end. My sister's boyfriend is currently in the hospital and then while we were at church this morning, someone ran into our car and took off without leaving a note. So now the back end of our car has a nice dent in it and is all scratched up-- awesome! So far the rest of my Sunday afternoon has been pretty relaxing, but there have certainly been some stressful moments this weekend.

Tonight I have Misa So HOT in Sunglasses for you. Yes, that's actually how the name is written on the bottle. This is the fourth polish from the Hot Summer collection, which I actually did manage to finish swatching today. Hopefully the pictures aren't too terrible! So HOT in Sunglasses is a great summer red creme, meaning it's a mostly red coral polish that leans orange in some lights and more pink in others. How's that for a description? My pictures seem to capture mostly the red/pink tones, although in the sunlight pictures you can see that it has some orange tones to it as well.

So HOT in Sunglasses, like most reds and/or corals, had a great formula and was extremely easy to apply. There was a little visible nail line with two coats, but with three (what I used in my pictures) it was pretty much gone and quite honestly, two coats was fine to me. I do think it got a little streaky if you were heavy-handed with the brush, but it also seemed to self-level and I don't have any complaints. It dried quickly and looks great even without a top coat.

Even though So HOT in Sunglasses isn't a true red, I still think you could get away with this polish as transition shade from summer to fall, or heck, any time of the year! Polishes like this are super flattering on just about everyone and a great staple to have in your polish wardrobe.

Misa BubblePop

Tonight's polish is Misa BubblePop, from the Hot Summer Collection. BubblePop is the older sister to Pink Cadillac-- it's another shimmery bright pink, but several shades darker. Despite being slightly darker, it's still pretty blindly bright and therefore an excellent summer color. It's pretty bright, but not actually neon. You can't argue that this is a great color for either a summer manicure or pedicure-- or for pulling out in the depths of winter.

The formula of BubblePop was similar to Pink Cadillac. It was a little sheer and a little runny, so I needed to use three coats and had to be careful while applying it because it had the tendency to pool a bit. But it dries quickly, so I can deal with a slightly runny formula.

I decided I wouldn't include the incandescent light photos because they so distorted the color of the polish. Blah.

As much as I love Pink Cadillac, I think I love BubblePop more. What's going on here? But it's just such a fun, happy color that it's a little irresistible. 

Misa Pink Cadillac

Back from vacation and it's time to start posting again! I had a fantastic time in New Orleans and am not quite ready to get back to work. This week I have half of Misa's Hot Summer collection for you! (I'm not ready to let go yet, are you?) I was lucky enough to win the entire Hot Summer collection from Vampy Varnish in a giveaway she hosted! This is my first experience with Misa polishes. Tonight I have Pink Cadillac, which is one of two pink polishes from this collection. Pink Cadillac is a bright pink polish that has a ton of golden shimmer in it.

The formula on this is pretty good, though maybe a little runny and it's a little sheer. It builds up nicely, though, and I have used three coats in my pictures below. It dried to a slightly matte finish, so I've also used Essie Good to Go top coat over this.

Not to be too on the nose, but this color really does remind me of a pink Cadillac! The shimmer is insanely gorgeous and this is a great color for summer. It looks great on both the fingers and the toes.

I really hope I didn't screw this up-- I swatched Pink Cadillac and the other pink in this collection, BubblePop back to back and then let them sit in a folder without moving them. Whoops! But I'm pretty sure I've got it right. You'll see BubblePop tomorrow!
