All That Glitters Go Away

Tonight I have a Valentine's Day polish for you from All That Glitters, an indie polish maker! This is a polish from her Limited Edition Bitter Hearts collection, which is based on those boxes of conversation hearts you got for Valentine's Day as a child-- and that tasted like chalk! Anyway, when the collection was posted online, I immediately liked a lot of the polishes, but only grabbed three. Go Away is the first polish I have to share with you. Go Away is described as a "pretty peachy pink coral creme base that is loaded with gold shimmery flakes and complimenting round glitters." Round glitters are becoming big right now, so of course I snatched this one up right away!

I decided to layer Go Away over Urban Outfitters Orange 7 (will post that later). The base of Go Away is definitely more pink than peach, but the base I used makes it lean a little more peachy. In any case, though, you don't actually need a base color to wear this, as it's fairly opaque on its own in three coats. The formula is a little on the thick side, but generally easy to work with and move the glitters around.

I love the color combo of this polish! The small gold flakies are a nice touch too. I also really like that this polish isn't necessarily "Valentine" themed and could definitely be worn throughout the year.

Nostalgic Lacquer Rock Me Amadeus

This is the last polish from the Nostalgic Lacquer New Wave Winter collection! Rock Me Amadeus is based on the song of the same name, released in 1985 by Falco. The song is a little weird, but the polish is great. Nostalgic Lacquer describes this polish as a "white base with burgundy, black, aqua and purple squares and hexes in multiple sizes."

Due to the milky white base, Rock Me Amadeus is a bit sheer, but you can build it up. I used about three and a half coats here-- mostly the half coat was to cover up some patchy spots on the nail. Using a white base color would help with any patchiness but this still applies pretty easily and looks great on the nail.

Another gorgeous Nostalgic Lacquer polish! Yet again I really love the color combination of the glitter. And that finishes up the New Wave Winter collection! There are some real beauties in here-- I love them all!

Nostalgic Lacquer Girls On Film

Tonight I have another polish from the New Wave Winter collection, based on a song from one of my favorite bands-- Duran Duran! Duran Duran is quintessential New Wave (to me, anyway) and I love them! Girls On Film was originally released in 1981, and then re-released in 1983, which is it when it became popular in the US. Nostalgic Lacquer describes it as a "bubble gum pink base with hot pink and purple glitters in various sizes and shapes."

Girls On Film built up really nicely after the first coat, which was a little sheer in the first coat (though not terribly). I wore three coats of this polish on its own, without a top coat. I found that if I alternated between normal application and dabbing some of the glitters around, it was easy enough to apply.

I was actually surprised at how much I loved this polish. Usually, I'm not a big fan of milky pinks, but it's the hot pink glitters that make me love this. It's girly but has a nice pop to it. Look for this to potentially make a showing as part of my Valentine's Day manicure, though I'm particularly uncreative right now.

Nostalgic Lacquer Karma Chameleon

Tonight I have another polish from the Nostalgic Lacquer New Wave Winter collection, Karma Chameleon. This is the second of three glitter polishes in a milky white base from this collection. Karma Chameleon is named after the 1983 song by Culture Club (which, according to Wikipedia, is one of the best-selling singles of all time). Nostalgic Lacquer describes Karma Chameleon as a "milky white base with a sweet rainbow of pastel colored glitters in various sizes floating around inside."

The milky white base of Karma Chameleon is definitely on the sheer side, but you can build it up. Here I used three coats (and maybe dabbed on another half layer) to get opaque coverage. In the future I would probably layer this over a white base. Like the other polishes from this collection, it takes some getting used to when first applying it, but once you get the hang of it it's easy enough. It dries quickly and to a relatively smooth finish despite the glitter.

The pastel glitters in this are so spring-like and beautiful. This has a very whimsical feeling to it. It also reminds me of candy, or Easter. Easter candy? In any case, this is a very pretty polish and I plan on reaching for this as the days start to get longer. 

Nostalgic Lacquer Personal Jesus

Tonight I have another polish from Nostalgic Lacquer's New Wave Winter collection. This time we have a classic New Wave band, Depeche Mode-- one of my favorite bands. Personal Jesus is described as a "dark grey base with teal, white and purple glitters in various sizes. This is extremely buildable on it's own and is mostly opaque in 2 coats."

Just like the other two polishes I've showed you so far from this collection, Personal Jesus goes on slightly sheer, but builds up. I found that I needed at least 3 coats to make it opaque and had to dab on a bit more to cover some patchy areas. I think next time I would layer this polish. What I really like is that even with the darker base color, the glitter doesn't get lost it in.

Again, this polish feels very unique to me. Love the grey base and the mix of colors.
