Two-fer Tuesday: Essie Find Me an Oasis and Resort Fling

My posting will be a little sporadic this week... there's a lot of upheaval currently going on in my house and I haven't been able to find the time (or have been too tired) to get any posts ready for this week. I will try, though! Today I have the last two polishes from the 2014 Essie Resort collection, Find Me an Oasis and Resort Fling!

Find Me An Oasis is a light sky blue pastel creme. Sadly, the color is probably the best part of this polish-- the formula is pretty terrible. It was thin and wanted to streak something fierce. I used three careful coats here (I had read other reviews of this not having the greatest formula-- they were right) and that definitely helped, but there is still some unevenness on my nails and I didn't feel like doing four coats to see if I could make it better.

Resort Fling is a summery cantaloupe coral crelly. Again, I love this color family for summer, but I feel like the formula could have been better, though honestly, as I reflect on it, was not as bad as Find Me an Oasis. The first coat was pretty darn sheer, though after three coats the visible nail line is pretty minimal. It is still a little bit streaky and didn't self-level very well.

Sadly, I find it hard to really love either one of these polishes-- I like the colors a great deal but  the formulas leave a lot to be desired. Certainly not the worst I've ever used, but definitely not great and will probably prevent me from reaching for these polishes again in the future, which is a shame! But you can't win them all, and there are similar colors out there with better formulas.

Two-fer Tuesday: Sinful Colors Hazed and Truth or Lavendare

These two polishes have been kicking around for awhile (since last summer/early fall, I think) and it's time to get them on the blog before they fall off the cliff into ancient history. As it's been awhile since I wore them, my notes are nonexistent so I'm throwing in the same post rather than making two separate ones because honestly, I don't know how  much I have to say about them individually! Hazed and Truth or Lavendare are both from the Chalkboard Diaries collection, which featured a rainbow of polishes that dried to a demi-matte finish. I love mattes, so I scooped up all the ones I could find them! As the two purples of the collection, I was of course immediately intrigued by these and was not disappointed!

Hazed is a red toned magenta, I would say. These colors are hard to describe! Maybe a vibrant red-toned plum? I've seen a lot of other people calling it violet, though that's definitely not the word that springs to my mind. In any case, no matter how you describe, it's a pretty freaking beautiful polish. The formula was good and easy to apply (aka not too thick). I can't remember how many coats I applied, but it was 2-3 and I don't remember having any issues.

Truth or Lavendare is, you guessed it, a lavender purple! This had a good formula and went on pretty smoothly, though was probably just a touch thick (as you can imagine, I don't actually remember how many coats I used, but it was probably three). I apologize for the awful paint job-- yikes! My clean up has gotten a little better recently

Sorry it's taken ages to get these polishes on the blog-- I shouldn't have waited so long! I guess I could have made this a Throwback Thursday post, haha! In the end, I really like both of these polishes and they were definitely standouts in this collection (I technically still have two more to wear from this collection... I should really dig those out asap! Both Hazed and Truth or Lavendare were easy to apply and wear and I liked both of them a lot! I am also a big fan of the demi/satin matte finish, though it doesn't tend to last very long because I beat my hands up. I consider both of these to be winners!

Two-fer Tuesday: Wet n Wild Stream of Consciousness and A Latte Love

I figured it was time for another Two-fer Tuesday post! This week I have two polishes from the Wet nn Wild Silver Lake collection, which was released this spring. I am a sucker for these Wet n Wild Megalast polishes-- the colors are not necessarily ground breaking, but they are usually nice capsule collections and even better, have a great price point at $1.99! The quality is generally decent as well, which makes these even more of a deal! In fact, I already reviewed another polish from this collection, Warm Filter! Out of six total polishes, there were two more neutral polishes: Stream of Consciousness and A Latte Love. And these are the two I have to share with you today!

Stream of Consciousness is a pretty, sheer pinky-white polish with a golden shimmer running throughout it. In my photos I used three coats and you can see there is still visible nail line. So if you don't love sheers, this probably isn't for you! You might be able to make it opaque with more coats, but man, that's so much work! This is a type of polish I struggle with because it's not quite sheer enough to leave at just one coat, but requires too many coats to make it opaque and tends to be a little streaky. That said, it does have a very pretty, delicate feel to it and I really love the shimmer.

A Latte Love is a sort of putty beige creme-- it leans a little grey, which may or may not make it more wearable for some. This had a great formula and applied very easily! My note-taking is pretty nonexistant right now, so I probably used three coats just to make sure everything was even. You could probably get away with two, though! I definitely don't recall having any issues with this polish while I was applying, other than trying to use a light hand during application.

A Latte Love:

Hopefully you enjoyes this more 'neutral' edition of Two-fer Tuesday! These are both pretty polishes and great palette cleansers for all those bright and neons that pop during the spring and summer months! Hmmm, maybe I should try to layer Stream of Consciousness over A Latte Love! That could be pretty.

Two-fer Tuesday: MAC Wash & Dry polishes

Today I have another Two-fer Tuesday post! This week I am featuring the two polishes from the MAC Wash & Dry collection, which was released in May. Quite honestly, I get tired of the all the MAC limited edition releases because they sell out quickly, but I managed to stumble across this collection as it was released and the packaging was just so awesome that I ended up getting a lipstick, a blush and both nail polishes. Whoops. But I did end up using both the polishes in my Mariners blobicure and the colors are perfect for some of the sports teams around here, so I guess it's a win!

Washeteria (what the heck is a Washeteria? Is it supposed to be a fancy name for a laundromat?) is a teal green creme. Monday Blues, as the name partially implies, is a navy blue creme. They are both cremes. The formula on these was just ok-- they were decently pigmented and not too thick or too thin, but they did want to apply streakily in the first coat. I think maybe the brushes were too stiff and I needed to apply these with a lighter touch. I used three coats of each of these to make sure I had even coverage.

The formula on these did leave a little to be desired, but it wasn't horrible--there is definitely worse out there. These a not groundbreaking but they are nice colors, and since I was able to use them right away, I consider it a win for me. I still tend to think MAC polishes are pricey for what you get, so there is that, but I do like these two a lot.

Two-fer Tuesday: Seahawks Manicures!

Sliding in just under the wire... a rare Two-fer Tuesday post! These manicures are basically the same, except they use different polishes. Over the past few months I did a couple of Seahawks (Seattle's NFL team, if you don't know) inspired manicures, but one has just been hanging out in computer, wondering if it would ever see the light day. Given that the Seahawks just won the NFC Championship, I figured now was as good a time as any!

First up, a manicure featuring Sally Hansen Batbano Blue and Nail-Venturous Floam:

The above manicure is actually from August so whew, a long time ago! I think I was wearing Batbano Blue and wanted to do something fun to jazz it up so I finally (FINALLY!) pulled out my bottle of Floam, which was languishing in a drawer.

And my manicure from this past weekend:

This is a new Sally Hansen polish called Slick (that is a dark dark blue) and is supposed to have a patent finish-- aka super shiny. And if you think I'm wearing Floam on my ringer again, you would be wrong. This is 12th Woman from Daily Hues Lacquer. It should have some silver circle glitters as well, but I was having trouble getting them out of the bottle.

Now I need to start planning a manicure for the Super Bowl, since the Seahawks miraculously made it back for the second year in a row!
