Since it's almost the end of June, it's time to show you the polishes from my June Maven box from Julep. Tonight I have Julep Lily to share with you. Julep describes Lily as a "hot sizzling fuchsia creme".
Lily has an interesting formula (to me anyway)-- even though Julep lists is as a creme, it feels almost jelly so I guess I will go with calling it a creme/jelly hybrid. Lily is nicely pigmented and goes on in two nice coats. You will see a bit of visible nail line in my photos-- this is probably due to the jelly like finish of the polish. In real life there is minimal VNL.

Photographing this polish (and cropping these pictures) was a frustrating experience. My camera seems to have issues with these types of colors and refuses to photograph them color accurately. Here, Lily looks extremely pink, which is not true to life at all. While Lily certainly does have a pink aspect to it, it is much darker and slightly more purple in real life.
Lily is very similar to another Julep polish, Helena, but they are definitely different. I will do a comparison at some point in the future (I keep saying that), but even though they are both fuchsia in color they are not the same-- Helena is distinctly darker and more purple than Lily is.
That would be a crelly!! :). I'm glad you brought up Helena because my mind immediately ent there. Helena doesn't photograph accurately,, either. Can't wait to see your comparison!
ReplyDeleteI had exactly the same issues with Helena-- I love it but can't for the life of me get it to photograph correctly.
DeleteI just wore this polish, too! I am still getting my post together, but I had a tough time photographing it, too. It was quite jelly-like and I loved it!
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing this as a pedi right now and really do love it. I just wish I could have photographed it correctly because it looks so much better in person.
Deletegorgeous color!!!
ReplyDeleteThese look amazing! I skipped this month's box and I think I might regret that now! Thanks for sharing! :)
