China Glaze Strap On Your Moonboots

Continuing the theme, today I have China Glaze Strap On Your Moonboots, which is from their Spring 2013 Hologlam Collection. I recently bought this on sale at Sally's and almost instantly had buyer's remorse while I waited for the bus home. I knew from the outset that the holographic effect of these was not what a lot of people expected, and while I don't mind a subtle holo effect, I was a bit disappointed when I couldn't even see the effect in the bottle. Luckily, on the nail, you can definitely see holo in Strap On Your Moonboots.

Strap On Your Moonboots is a dusky blue that kind of has a demin feel to it. Unfortunately, I had some issues applying this polish. This polish wanted to drag because it dries fairly quickly, so I wound up with some thin spots and had to use three coats on most of my nails.

I do wish the holo effect was a bit more prominent in the polish, but I do really love the base color. I also wish it had applied a bit better, but since I got it on sale I'm not too broken up about some issues. It is a really pretty polish-- however, if you want something that it really holographic, Strap On Your Moonboots is definitely not the polish you're looking for.

  1. Its a pretty color! The holo effect isn't really that strong but its still pretty nonetheless.

    1. Indeed! I was much happier with this polish on my nails than I was in the bottle-- it's definitely a pretty one!

  2. This collection was quite a let down compared to the promo shots we all saw, but some of the colors are still very pretty, even though they aren't as holographic as I was hoping. And it's blue so that's winning!

    1. Oh definitely! I got another polish from the collection, When Stars Collide, that's just gorgeous! And the base color for this polish is so pretty.

  3. Love!! This is the only color of this collection I really felt drawn to and I still haven't picked it up on account of the price tag (I just can't bend my head around paying $9.99 for a ChG, lol :p) but it is an awesome color and the name reminds me of that greatest of movies, Napoleon Dynamite. Bummer about the application. There are so many easy to apply and well behaved holos now that I have little patience for companies who don't get it right, especially when they're as big as ChG. Even so, I'll probs pick this up some time today... You're responsible for far too many of my polish purchases, lol ;) ♥

    1. I don't blame you for not wanting to pay $9.99 for a ChG-- I pretty much only bought this because I stumbled into Sally's and it was on sale! I do think it's really pretty, despite the subtle holo.
