Rescue Beauty Lounge Square Pants

First off, sorry I've been so absent lately. Real life has gotten in the way... mostly because I am busy and then too tired at the end of the day to post anything. This past weekend I spent three days in Portland to throw a bridal shower for my sister-in-law (co-hosted by my wonderful mother) and it was really great up until my mother had a scary freak accident and severely lacerated two of her fingers, resulting in a trip to the ER and her having to get many stitches. That was pretty scary, but we still managed to have a pretty good time. But then we got back very late last night and today was crazy stressful at work-- and I'm feeling a bit depressed about being so far away from my parents.

On to the polish--let's talk about yellow! Yellow can be such a hard color to wear for many people. Some of the lucky few can pull it off... and the rest of us struggle to find appropriate shades. Tonight I have a tricky yellow polish-- Rescue Beauty Lounge Square Pants, from the SpongeBob collection. RBL describes this as "This translucent pineapple yellow works beautifully with all shapes of pants, skirts and dresses. Don’t be fooled by the name, it’s a very grown-up hue." Personally, I would call Square Pants a banana jelly. It's a very pale, light yellow with just a hint of shimmer (check out the pictures with flash) and very, very sheer.

I had to use four generous coats of Square Pants to achieve a mostly opaque look. Even with that number of coats, there is still some visible nail line, but it's pretty decent. When I put the first coat, I wrinkled my nose because of the anemic color, but as I put on more coats I liked the color more. I'm not convinced it necessarily looks good on me, but I do like it. I felt that this also took a little longer to dry than I anticipated, but that might also be due to the fact that I was using thicker coats.

The only issue I had with this was some bubbling-- but that seems to happen to me frequently with some jelly polishes. I think it's because I don't let the coats dry long enough and because I use a lot of them, I get some bubbling. I ended up liking the color a lot more than I anticipated when I first started applying it. Plus, Square Pants is great for creating jelly sandwiches.

  1. I think yellow looks good on more people than they care to admit :-)

I personally love yellow! This is a little paler than I would be drawn too, but it's still pretty!

Glad your mom is okay :-) And hugs for missing family! Snuggle Ollie!

    1. I love yellow too! My mom once told me not to wear yellow because it made me look sickly, so I was turned off for awhile, but now I love it. I'm generally drawn to brighter yellows too, but there's something about this I love.

I'm glad she's doing ok too! Thanks-- Ollie is definitely getting some snuggle time right now.
