Julep Alma

Hooray, now we gone through the neutral part of my September Maven box we can move on to some colors! Julep Alma is described as a "retro dijon yellow creme"  and I might describe it as a pea soup yellow. This has a lot of green in it, but is still definitely a yellow polish. It's not quite the avocado green color that you used to see on an appliance in the 60's, but it definitely has that feeling to it. I guess that would be the retro part, right?

As is fairly typical with Julep cremes, Alma is very well-pigmented and was fairly easy to apply. I certainly didn't note any difficulties. It was a little sheer with the first coat but built up nicely and dried quickly. I used three coats here without a top coat.

Those last two photos make it lean a little too green-- the natural light photos are definitely more color accurate.

Alma is a fantastic ugly-pretty color. It's the greener sister of Julep's other dijon creme polish, Stella. I love it! I used to think I would never wear polishes like this, but now I think they're great. Maybe some day I will get around to doing a comparison, but you can take my word for it.

  1. All I can think of is that part in Sister Act where Whoopi Goldberg says "Alma! Check yer battery!" LOL

I like this color on other people but I don't care for it for myself. Weird, eh?
